ADAIRSVILLE, GA (2/22/2020) — A 55-year-old woman died on Saturday when she was hit by a car trying to escape from state police.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, a state trooper attempted to pull over a 2015 Mini Cooper for speeding on I-75 around 9:14 a.m.
The driver refused to pull over and entered the highway, driving south on US 41. The GSP followed the Mini Cooper and watched it run a red light, hitting two other cars.
Angela Walker Townsend, 55, was killed in the collision. She was a paraprofessional for pre-kindergarten students at White Elementary School in Bartow County.
The other driver, Vanessa Stovall, 34, was also hit and suffered head and shoulder injuries. Stovall was taken to Gordon Hospital for treatment for her injuries.
The driver of the Mini Cooper has been identified by GSP as Christopher Tyler Parker, 20. Parker was taken into custody and charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude, felony vehicular homicide, felony receiving stolen property, and felony bringing stolen property across state lines.
