MILLEDGEVILLE, GA (2/12/2020) — An 86-year-old woman died on Wednesday morning after being in a car accident in Milledgeville. The crash involved three cars and occurred around 7:10 a.m. at the intersection of North Jefferson Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

According to Georgia State Patrol Captain Calvin Barton, Mary Jean Beall, 86, was driving north on North Jefferson Street before turning left on MLK. When she turned, she was hit on the passenger side by a 2006 red Chevrolet Tahoe driving south. A witness stated that Beall had a green light but did not have a turn arrow, and she failed to yield to the oncoming car.

Beall’s vehicle spun after being struck and went south on Jefferson Street, where it hit a utility pole. The Tahoe then crashed into a 2017 Nissan Versa on MLK, which caused the Nissan to roll onto its right side.

After being removed from the vehicle, the driver and passenger of the Nissan were transported to Navicent Health Baldwin with minor injuries.

The driver of the Tahoe didn’t sustain any injuries, but Beall died at the scene of the crash.
