Atlanta, GA (February 6, 2020) – Several thunderstorms that moved through Atlanta on Thursday have left significant damage across the metro area. According to WSBTV, trees fell along several roads and most of the metro area experienced severe flooding.

In DeKalb County, a tree fell onto a car that was driving eastbound on I-285 at Ashford Dunwoody Road. A similar incident happened in Fulton County, where a tree fell on a car going down Hammond Drive in Sandy Springs. Thankfully, no one suffered any injuries.

High winds also caused significant damage throughout Thursday. In Gordon County, a strong gust ripped the roof off of a house. Since 5:00 a.m. Thursday, there were seven tornado warnings across northern Georgia.

In total, Georgia Power reports that nearly 13,000 people lost electricity during the storm. A majority of the outages were in Atlanta. The National Weather Service warns that flooding will continue into next week.
